It is National Bully Prevention Month, and at Constructive Playthings, we want to take this opportunity to educate on the very real problem of bullying. Every day, so many children are victim to bullying on the bus, on the playground, and in the classroom.

Bullying is an awful experience for a child to go to, and it can have serious effects on a young person. Bullying not only threatens a child’s physical safety, but their emotional safety as well. Bullied children often experience a drop in their academic performance because they have trouble focusing in the classroom.

The best way to prevent bullying is to address it before it ever becomes a problem. When children are properly educated on bullying, they will understand why it is so awful, and they will also understand what to do if they become a victim.

To educate your students on bullying, have anti-bullying resources available in your classroom. These types of resources will help children realize the harm in bullying, and let them know what to do when they see it or experience it. Another great resource is StopBullying.gov. There are many articles and resources available on this website for both students and teachers to educate and be educated on the topic of bullying.

When our students understand the evil of bullying, they are much less likely to partake in it, and when they do see it, they know how to properly respond. Be part of the solution and educate your students on the harms of bullying before it even starts.
